This article from the New York Times shows just how difficult it is to overcome the problems faced by people trying to rid the world of this awful disease. Some of the problems come from an unexpected quarter.
Immediate Past President Dave Rich accompanied by Vice President Keith Rolfe and Rtn Chris Sims presented the Dictionaries to twelve children of Year 6 at the Brampton Primary School during their Leaving Day celebrations.
The sun came out and so did the people of Reydon. The club’s first Brass on the Grass concert featuring the Wrentham Brass Band, was hailed as a success. People lazed in the July sunshine as the band played old favourites such as the Lincolnshire Poacher and more up to date pieces such as the theme from Skyfall.
Hot dogs and burgers were sold and a collection was taken in aid of the Waveney Sailability charity. The amount raised was £394. A big thank you the Wrentham Brass Band, David Smith of the Randolph Hotel and of course the people of Reydon. We hope to make this an annual event so see you next year.
On Thursday,s meeting, outgoing President Dave Rich handed over the chain of office to Keith Monaghan. Dave thanked the members for all their support during the past year and said how much he had enjoyed the last 12 months as President and all that the club had achieved in this time. President Keith thanked Dave for his term by presenting him with a gift from the club.
President Keith said he was looking forward to the coming year and helping to implement the exciting programme of events lined up for the club. He then went on to induct his Vice President, Keith Rolfe and 2nd Vice, Cathy Ryan.
