Like many other clubs the Rotary Club of Southwold and District has decided to support the Lend With Care initiative. This involves helping entrepreneurs in the developing world to support themselves by providing micro-loans for their businesses. The club has initially helped three entrepreneurs:

We are pleased to say that both Odile and Brigitte are now fully funded. This is a project that the club will continue for the foreseeable future.

President’s Charity

This year our President’s chosen charity is “Pancreatic Cancer Action”

He has chosen the charity in memory of Wendy Butler, a friend and former colleague, who sadly died from the disease in February 2012 aged only 56.

Look out for events coming up supporting this worthwhile charity.

Brass on the Grass

The sun came out and so did the people of Reydon. The club’s first Brass on the Grass concert featuring the Wrentham Brass Band, was hailed as a success. People lazed in the July sunshine as the band played old favourites such as the Lincolnshire Poacher and more up to date pieces such as the theme from Skyfall.

Hot dogs and burgers were sold and a collection was taken in aid of the Waveney Sailability charity. The amount raised was £394. A big thank you the Wrentham Brass Band, David Smith of the Randolph Hotel and of course the people of Reydon. We hope to make this an annual event so see you next year.

New year, new team.

On Thursday,s meeting, outgoing President Dave Rich handed over the chain of office to Keith Monaghan. Dave thanked the members for all their support during the past year and said how much he had enjoyed the last 12 months as President and all that the club had achieved in this time. President Keith thanked Dave for his term by presenting him with a gift from the club.

President Keith said he was looking forward to the coming year and helping to implement the exciting programme of events lined up for the club. He then went on to induct his Vice President, Keith Rolfe and 2nd Vice, Cathy Ryan.
